Here is an idea that I have actually been involved in. We found a local cemetery that was pretty badly overgrown. All of us got together and did minor landscaping. (mowing, weeding, cleaning debris and so forth) We all then chose a person in the cemetery and over a couple of weeks we found out everything we could about them. Who they were, where they lived, how they made their living....etc. After we were done with our research we met back at the cemetery. We then each took turns standing by the grave of the person we chose and read what we have found out about him/her. This became very popular and even though I am out of the area, my old history group still does it to this day. You would be amazed what you can find out about your community through an old cemetery and a little bit of research.

(the only rule that we made was that we could not touch any of the stones, even if they have fallen over as none of us were qualified restorers)

You can watch: Remember the Titans or other movies like this and show how the differences between races have even changed sports including: jobs, music and other things in society. And if you want to look into the history of how sports have changed to allow for different races and sexes to be involved as well.

Each of you could take a coin from any part of the world or any time in history and give a brief presentation on what that coin tells you about what was going on when it was made.
