How would you critique my lunch, as someone trying to lose weight

Breakfast: Special K, Rice milk, an apple

Lunch: Apple, grapes, Glass of O.J. and half a pita bread stuffed with tofu, pickles, etc (like a fake "Egg salad" in pita bread) lime popcicle (80 calories)

How diet-wise would you say that lunch was??

BTW.. the popcicle cleanses my palate and puts a "finish" to the meal so I don't want to keep munching or eat another half of a pita bread..

The tofu "egg salad" had no egg but it did have Miracle whip.. I know I'm weird to use rice milk but still use Miracle whip.. I don't claim to be vegan!!

I'm not keen on Special K. It's nothing more than puffed rice, and it's probably white rice as well. Also, I think it contains corn syrup and/or high fructose corn syrup, which I avoid as they're unnatural. I stick with whole grain cereal with natural sugars. Today, I had a mix of Life cereal (it's better dry because it seems to get soggy quickly) and Trader Joe's fiber Os, which is organic. (My sister-in-law got it and decided she didn't like it so she gave it to me. They're a little too dense for my taste, so I mix them.) I had soy milk with them. I've never had rice milk, partially because it's more expensive than soy and partially because soy, I've heard, is more nutritious. On my shelf I also have a few boxes of raisin bran my husband bought me a box at my request, I didn't care for them, but he bought me more when it was on sale. It contains corn syrup, so I don't have it every day, also, they don't seem to have many raisins in them, I have added extra. Eh. I also have some Wal-Mart and Kroger equivalent to Honey Nut Cheerios and Cheerios and three boxes of Life cereal.

Your mock egg salad sounds yummy. Occasionally for lunch I'll stir fry some tofu (I or my husband press it some, then put in in a small pan with some olive oil and add either bar-be-que sauce, or sweet and sour, or soy sauce) and put it in a pita, usually a whole one, but maybe a small one, since the small one has as many calories as half of the large one. I also have some steamed veggies, maybe two different ones sometime in the afternoon as well. Also, I have some fruit in the afternoon, too. I don't have it all at once because I either don't have time with a six-eek-old daughter (my husband is great wtih doing meals especially since I breastfeed) and I know I'll want to nibble again anyway.

Anyway, overall it sounds good. I hope I've been of some help.

I think you did just fine. While juice is healthy, it does have the potential to have a lot of calories like anything that isn't water so it's kind of something to have in moderation. If you're trying to lose weight, overdoing the OJ can lead to a lot of calories, so it's best to stick to water most of the time. I know from experience the popsicle was a good move because it kind of helps you feel a little more satisfied.
