Dr S gave good advice.
I got my first job by phoning once a week to show my interest. I even stopped in a couple of times b/c I wanted that job. When they got an opening, they called me. The personel officer told me that he thought of me first b/c of my continued interest. Always be neat & well groomed in appearance, polite w/ a professional attitude. No bubble gum chewing or slang & if you have a nose ring or something like that remove it...that'd be distracting lol

Show enthusiasm! Bosses want enthusiastic employees, it can even make up for lack of experience. Let him or her know you are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the job.

send a resume with a cover letter. Call on a periodical basis to check up with the status of the interview, assuming you got one.

dress appropriately, be polite and confident that you would be an asset to the company. ask when you will hear back and call if they don't. many employers see that this means you are serious about wanting to work.
