Yesterday I got my bottom lip pierced on the left side, and I've got a 16 guage ring in it. I've heard that since it doesn't go through muscle, and only the skin, it's hard to tear unless you catch it on something. I have a show coming on on Friday, will I be able to sing without tearing or hurting my new piercing?

Yes it is hard to injure once its healed except by pulling on it.

On the other hand while it is new, its easy to aggravate. Moving your mouth around a wholllllle lot can eventually annoy a new piercing, but you arent going to cause any lasting damage. Make sure that your piercing is clean before going on stage. This way you stretching your mouth wont pull any dirt back into the piercing. Since most people sweat gallons doing a show, give your piercing a salt water rinse once you're done.

It may be just fine or it might get a little sore, but it wont cause you any serious trouble. Keep it clean and baby it a little afterward if it acts up. Just dont smack it with the mic!
