my grandfather always said... IF you buy a watch for a buck... You will have a watch only worth a dollar.

You do get what you pay for.......
I was in need of a scope for my Savage Model 12FLV 22-250, for this winter season coyote hunting. I had the gun for 8 months now. I had my cousins Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40mm on it, til I had to send the gun in for repair. The Nikon scope was great. I've used a friend's Winchester 22-250, it has an older model Leupold scope on it. The clarity of the scope can't be beat by cheaper scopes.
I bought a Center Point 4-16x40mm for my 22-250. I'm not very excited about it. Sure it looks good on the rifle.....However, the clarity of the glass isn't all that great. I only paid $80 for the scope at Walmart. A Leupold cost something like $250 and a Nikon Prostaff runs about $150.
I am regretting buying the Center Point scope. If anything, I wish I had at least bought a Nikon. Should have bought 2 of them, as I still need a scope for my Remington Woodmaster 742 30-06 rifle. I just may buy 2 Nikon's and ditch the Center Point scope.
I would buy a Leupold or two if I had that kind of money to spend.

You get what you pay for; the better the quality the higher the price. But the cheap ones do work, and they hold up too! I have a Tasco on a 30/06, it works fine and holds up to the recoil as well. been using it for twelve years now. I do have a Red field on my pump in 30/06, it has more to offer, it is a 2-7 power: I have been using that one for forty years. And it still holds true on point of in pack. Both do in fact. It is do you need the extras the high price ones offer? And what you can afford. Now I would try the cheaper ones first and see what I can get. Some times the more things a scope can do can mess you up. The first scope stick with a basic one 4 or 6 power is good. In fog no scope is good for much and try not making those three hundred yard shots.

I have tried several different brands of scopes. For my money, Bushnell and Weaver are the clearest. To really find out, you have to judge for yourself. Go to a Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, or Gander Mountain and look through the scopes, always sighting through it at some sign there in the store with writing on it. You will probably see a small difference in some of the scopes. Choose the one which you can afford which gives the best clarity, and the writing on the sign helps to tell better than simply looking at one of the mounts on the wall.

I've been using the same scope now for 11 years. A Bushnell 3x9x40 that I bought at Wal-Mart for about 40 bucks. Even as I write this it has never let me down in the woods or in the back yard just shootin.

I bought a lot of 4, 1 came from the factory broken. The good thing was the 1 year warranty, the bad thing was you have to pay $10 plus shipping to send it back. They're certainly not Nikon or Leupold, nor are they Bushnell--I would put them in the same class as BSA. I agree that you get what you pay for, but not everyone needs to buy a Rolls-Royce.

I think you get what you pay for. A brand like Leopold is more expensive but has a lifetime guarantee.
