known her since we were 17 working weekends in a clothes shop. We both finished uni this summer and we're back at the clothes shop while we're trying to find a door into our respective carears.

I've fancied her madly all this time but NEVER made a pass. We've always been good friends, but lately we've been getting on really, really well.

She wants to get a job in a big city which is quite far away! But my work could quite easily lead me to the same city too...

Should i continue to be the good friend?

Should i make a move?

Should i try to build a life in NYC and see what happens?

I really don't want to mess it up. If i make a wrong move i could destroy our friendship, i'd rather have her as a friend as not at all...

how should i handle it?

I think you should tell her. If you both are good friends then im sure this wont affect your friendship. If she like you too then maybe things could change between you. You shouldnt buy a ticket for a train that has already left. So, dont waste anymore time. 6 yrs is really long.

Ask her.
Tell her how much you value her friendship, then ask her if she would ever consider being more than just friends.
Worded carefully she has the option of just staying friends with you.
I would not move cities unless you really want to anyway or there is a strong possibility of you making a go of it with her.

I would tell her you are interested in getting to know her better, but you don't want to lose her friendship. I know that in order to have a good marriage, you usually marry your best friend. So talk to her about it and get her feed back. All that can happen is she will say no, but at least you would know and can lead your life in a positive way.
