They're called vericose veins, and baisically you can get them from either standing up too much or sometimes you get them when you're pregnant. I've head that if you lie down on the floor or your bed or something and then rest your legs against the wall for 15-30 minutes everyday it helps the circulation and helps to prevent them. good luck!

Well it is pretty much genetic. My grandma and mom have them at now at age 30 I am starting to get them too. I heard that staying fit helps alot. but as I am a gym rat and very fit I would have to say that is a load of poo poo. Elevating your legs while you sit will help. Not crossing your legs helps alot. And general maintaining health will help too. But look at your moms legs and grandma's if they have them you will too.
There is hope!! If you have a ton of money to spend a doc can zap them with a laser as what they are are surface bloodvessels. They are veins that came close to the surface and thne gave up and are a 'dead end'. Dermatologists zap them and burn the vessel and they fade away. That is the best fix. But very costly and painful.
Fake tan is my best freind for them :P sux being a woman sometimes.

If it runs in your family, you should start preventative methods as soon as possible. My mom says the key is to wear support panty hose. There are also various creams and lotions available out there for spider and varicose veins.

Varicose veins are more likely I've heard, if you are on your feet a lot, worse if on concrete floors. I have been told that wearing good shoes helps prevent them, also. I know that there are dermatologists can get rid of them if you get them, something like laser surgery.

I got some during my pregnancies and there's not a whole lot to do about them. Doctors reccommend wearing support hose but I don't really think it works. And besides, it's bloody uncomfortable when you're pregnant! Your body naturally increases its production of blood during pregnancy to go to the growing uterus and baby. The extra blood also (thanks to gravity) pools in veins, usually in the legs-creating vericose veins. Not fun. If you're really concerned about it, don't get pregnant.

Keep your weight normal, overweight helps cause these veins. If it runs in your family, you're likely to get them too. Don't cross your legs, so that the blood is cut off. Exercize to keep your circulation going.

Those are called vericose veins and the next time you're hanging out with your mom, look at her legs. Chances are, if she has them, you'll have them. That's how genetics work.

does you mom have it...your grandmother? varicose veins (that's what it called) is hereditary. You can have them surgically removed when you get older....but it's a very pricey plastic surgery.
