St. Therese of the child Jesus (of Lisieux). She has a great and simple faith.

Pope John Paul 2 is my favourite pope. He forgave the one who tried to kill him.

St Joan of Arc has always been my favorite, with St. Thomas Becket a close second. St Francis of Asissi gets honorable mention.

I don't have a favorite pope because I don't know enough details about enough of them, although I have great respect for John Paul II.

My favorite pope? Celestine V. He was a pious old Benedictine monk elected in 1294, who immediately realized he was in way over his head dealing with all the scheming prelates and nobles. He resigned and went back to his monastery. Would that more popes could have the humility to recognize when they have exceeded their competence.
