Yes.

The simple answer is: If you think you're beat, you almost always are. It's OK to surrender sometimes.

My #1 rule is: NEVER call a bet you know you shouldn't! It's that easy to progress from being a losing player to at the very least a break-even player.

Last night, heads-up at the end of a tourney, I'm holding 22 and the flop comes down 2-6-6. Gin! Opponent puts out a decent-sized bet, but not too big that he wouldn't expect me to call w/ ace-high. I call - setting the trap. (Note: I know this guy pretty well - 6s are his "lucky" cards and he likes to bet a monster hand as he thinks others will think it's a bluff. So I'm pretty sure he has a 6 and I'll take all his chips this hand.) Turn is another 6. OUCH! He bets all-in. I think for a minute, but fold. He shows K6.

????? What K6 bet all-in? He must be a newbie. Why would anyone bet all-in if you have a hand that can't be beat??? Only sucky player will do that. However, knowing when to fold is a gift/ talent. It's very hard to know for sure. Yes, you can ask question to oponents, read their tells, their bets to somewhat guess what they might have but it is only educated guess. You WILL NEVER KNOW when to fold for sure. If you can tell when to fold, you should be winning every tounaments. So far, no one has done that, therefore, noone really knows when to fold'em. Also, there are many hands and/or pot-odds that calling is required regardless of what is on the board. Thus, knowing when to fold'em is combination of pot-odds, tells, betting pattern, your hole cards, and lastly your GUT feeling.

IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH TO CALL, IT'S GOOD ENOUGH TO RAISE.
