Your first roll is the come-out roll. You are trying to roll a total 7 or 11 with both dice(you win) if you bet the pass line. If you roll a 2, 3, 12 then you lose.

On the next roll if you have not won or lost, then you are trying to roll the same number as the come-out roll. If you roll the same number you win your pass line bet. If you roll 7, then you lose.

Stay with the pass line bet until you get familiar with the craps layout. The pass line with odds is a good bet as the odds bet you can put down after the come-out roll. If is an even money bet because you get paid the proper odds.

Is this the same GrayWolf that on the LAFF list? Aiden Raccoon here. Anyway, there are two different rolls of the dice. The first roll is called the "come out" roll. On the come out roll a 7 or 11 wins what you bet on the pass line. A 2, 3, or 12 is called a craps and those numbers lose on the pass line. There are 6 other numbers that you can roll and they are 4,5,6,8,9,10. Rolling one of these numbers is called a point number and puts us into the second part of the game. At this point, you can now make an additional bet if you think the point number is going to hit again and will pay you more money than the original amount on the pass line. This is placed behind the pass line. You'll have to ask the dealer how much money you are allowed to play because every casino is different. Just roll the point number again BEFORE a 7 is rolled and you win. If a 7 rolls you lose.

The easiest way to start learning craps is just to start off by picking one of the 6 numbers on the layout and just bet directly on to them. You get paid everytime they roll and lose everything if the 7 comes up.

William H gave an excellent answer.

The interesting thing about craps is that the simplest way to play (pass/no pass) also has the best odds.

The more complicated bets (single numbers, hard way, any craps, etc) also have a higher house edge.
