Ok, it was going into the rinse cycle. It filled up with water and then just quit. . . .nothing happening. Every once in a while it would make a clicking noise and then a little buzz and then nothing at all. No matter what setting I put it on it still wouldn't work. . . .nothing.

The hubby and I are going to take a look at it again this evening before we go and buy a new one. But, I don't evenk now what we should be looking at. . .and as great as my hubby is. . .he is not the Maytag man, lol. Help!

~I know this isn't religion related, but I need some answers. : )

Consider a repair man first?

I had a sensor go out on my dryer, it took all of 3 minutes and a 5 dollar part to fix it. I was much happier paying the guy 35 bucks to show me what was wrong than to buy a new unit.

Most will have a "XX" cost to look at it, and many will incorporate that into payment if you have them repair it.

Two things:

1) Did you check the filter and the drain tubes to make sure there isn't a clog? This has happened to me before and simply removing the clog will cause the washer to drain and move into the next cycle.

2) If you can't detect a clog, it's probably the washer's "timer," a.k.a. the "electronic control assembly." It'll cost you between $75. - $125. to replace. I'd get it checked out by a pro before you go to the expense of replacing it, unless the machine is > 10 years old or so.

Try another outlet to make sure it's the washer and not a blown receptacle at this point. Check the electric box to make sure it didn't throw a breaker or blow a fuse. Maybe your pump went out and blew the fuse when you tried to start the machine again. Take the back off and check for loose connections or clogged hoses. It sounds like it may be electrical part issue though. In that case call the repair man.

That happened to me once, could be you have something stuck in it like money, same thing it would stop on the rinse cycle and just die. Get the repair guy out, get him to drain it and just check it over.

Sounds like your electric motor is acting up. That's the buzz you here...it's trying to start but won't. Either motor is bad or it's in a bind some place. try moving belt as you try turning on motor and it start buzzing. That may loosen it up if it's stuck. If not...call Maytag.

I had this problem...the condensor is shot. It means calling a handyman unless your hubby can get the part and install it. Personally I'd go with the handyman, unless you really want a new washer!

Did you check the little switch inside the door of the machine?

You know.....that little opening where when you close the door, it pushes down on the little metal thingie allowing the machine to run again?

If that switch is fried, you need a new one..........trust me on this

Is something jammed stopping the agitator from spinning? Gym shoes, a pen, a small child?

Well it is probably a bad timer, but it could be other things. Timers are pretty cheap and not to hard to swap out.
