No, even if it is a formal event such as a ball. They are not permitted with military uniforms.

no. he will be in uniform and flowers are not part of their uniform.

don't worry about getting him any of that stuff!
he may or may not even get you a corsage...probably not.

it's kind of like prom...but not.

you sound excited and that's awesome! my first USMC ball was a LOT of fun. we went to dinner and then to the ball and it was in a hangar and they had parachutes lining the walls and twinkle lights behind them. there was an F-16 jet in the one corner (remember these hangars are HUGE!) and then tables everywhere and a big dance floor and dj. everyonce was dressed up.
there is a portion where there's speakers and ceremonies. that might get a BIT boring, but hang in there it doesn't last forever.

really, it'll just be a LOT of fun so go and have a GREAT TIME!
oh and you can get your pic taken like at the prom too :)

as for your dress....just be sure it's formal. more prom than homecoming, if that helps.
most are floor length, except this year mine is mid-calf, but i'm going with this whole 50's look, so it works.
anyway...yeah, formal. some balls are REALLY formal.

and yours might not be in a hangar...that's just where we have ours.

take care:)

WHile that would be a thoughtful gesture it isn't allowed to be worn when in uniform. If you were the service member with a civilian date wearing a suit then it would be very nice. He should still buy you a coursage though.

In the traditional way, a woman buys the man a butonniere and the man buys a woman a corsage or wrist corsage. (Sometimes they match, like the same color or ribbon.)
These days, ASK HIM if he wants one. If so, buy it and hush.
Neither one has to have one.
Dress very well-short or long evening dress, nylons, high heels, fancy nice hair and make-up. Sweet and elegant jewelry. Look and act classy, even if your normal style is tom-boy.
Show off for him and his buddies.
Ask a local florist for ideas-but you do not have to buy one from them.

You can buy it if you want, but it is not authorized to be on the uniform so he could not wear it.

It is an old tradition that the lady buys her beau a boutonniere and he buys her a floral decoration called a corsage. These days (when ladies aren't all heiresses!) it is OK to ask him if that is what he wants - he may be gentleman enough to buy both!
