Hilarious. Darwin was a Christian -before- Origin of Species, and maintained the Theory of Evolution ever after. This is verifiable and true, and anybody who isn't deliberately twisting the facts, or getting their information from those doing the twisting immediately knows this is true.

Darwin was always a Christian, even through his ideas on "descent with modification" (Darwin never used the word evolution).
Charles Darwin actually rejected God at a point in his life (and I believe for the rest of it) after his favourite daughter suffered from an illness and died as a result of it.
Darwin's beliefs in terms of biology never rejected nor interfered with his belief in God and the bible, but after the death of his young daughter did not believe in a God that could be so cruel.
Evolution does not in any way reject the idea that there is a God, and makes no explanation as to where and how life began. Evolution is a fact, plain and simple. Even those people who believe in "intelligent design" do not argue that changes have occured to the life on this planet over time. The 'theory' involved is how those changes occured, and while IDers believe that "God did it", most (almost all) scientists believe that evolution is acheived through natural selection.

So? Many, many famous scientists were Christians of one sort or another. Pasteur was a devout Catholic and so were the Curies. Why some "christian" sects insist on science being the antithesis of Christianity is beyond me.
Just because Darwin may have converted to Christianity doesn't mean he thought that Evolution was incorrect. One has nothing to do with the other! I am a Christian Evolutionist.

Even if it was true (which can't be proved) that doesn't negate the work he did and the contributions he made to science.
You can't put the genie back in the bottle, fundies.
I know Christians who believe that evolution was the way [G]od created everything. What's wrong with that idea? It allows for god-belief, but also allows for a more realistic way of how it could have happened than you'll find in Genesis.

Many fundamentalist Christians believe that Charles Darwin repented for his "anti-religious" evolution theory and at last converted to be a Christian just before he died.
Sir Francis Darwin (1848-1925)
"Lady Hope's account of my father's views on religion is quite untrue. I have publicly accused her of falsehood, but have not seen any reply. My father's agnostic point of view is given in my Life and Letters of Charles Darwin, Vol. I., pp. 304-317. You are at liberty to publish the above statement. Indeed, I shall be glad if you will do so. Yours faithfully, Francis Darwin. Brookthorpe, Gloucester. May 28, 1918."

FALSE
And if you paid attention YESTERDAY when this exact same question was asked you would know that even the evangelical right has GIVEN UP on this canard:
http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v18/i1/darwin_recant.asp
"It therefore appears that Darwin did not recant, and it is a pity that to this day the Lady Hope story occasionally appears in tracts published and given out by well-meaning people."
answersingenesis is affiliated with the creation museum and other evangelical groups for those who might not have heard of them.
Darwin almost entered the seminary as a young man, so was a xian for his WHOLE LIFE. He did not recant evolution in favor of xianity.

In Islam, mendacity to sell Islam is termed "takiyya". whilst Christians do it, that's merely called mendacity. they have been doing it for hundreds of years; twisting the Hebrew Scriptures to "tutor" a bogus faith.

No, you should get your facts straight.
First Darwin did not "recant" and second, science does not depend on the person proposing a theory, they work on the facts and evidence supporting the theory.

Sorry, thats false. Many Christians think Charles Darwin renounced his theory of evolution and converted to Christianity before he died. But thorough research has found no backing for this claim.
