If its something small like incorrect work dates, they wont usually make a big deal out of it. Anything major like claiming you worked somewhere you didn't, or failing to mention a criminal record if asked can lead to immediate termination. If you did indeed knowingly or unknowingly put the incorrect information on your resume and you were hired by an employer, the best thing I can recommend to you is to be honest and upfront. Explain the situation and why that information may be incorrect. Depending on your boss, you two might just share a laugh and shrug it off. In the long run, it is the wise thing to do. If you are building up a pension with that company, you could very well lose it all.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Why lie? If I am your new boss and I find out that you lied to me, you are gone in a split second. But I really couldn't care less that you had crummy jobs in the past or made bad choices as long as you do your work well for me.

Stay honest and you can work your way up. Lie once and it is only downhill from there if people find out.

If it was out of order or something left out, little risk unless you left out prison time, etc. If just dates wrong, then no real risk. If fraudulant and you didn't work for companies shown, high risk and you shouldn't have done it.
Make up a good listing of your work history and reference people and addresses and take it to enclose or copy to application and if you feel it is important, send a corrected copy with an explanation to those you have applied to.
