I am of the opinion that GMO's are relatively safe and have helped to save many, many people from starvation. As with anything in life, there is risk and the potential for abuse. One thing I don't like is the patenting of seeds. If you created the seed strain in a lab, then it's all yours. If it was created by nature, it should belong to us all.
Curious to hear peoples views on this.

I pretty much agree with you. The only problem I see with modifying DNA and then putting it out in the field is that we don't know all the consequences. We cannot even imagine all the consequences. There I would like to see a go slow approach with lots of safeguards.
Just like the mistakes we made with insects (Gypsy moth, intentionally introduced into the US and then accidentally escapes) and some plants. I think Australia also made a mistake introducing some animals. They're sorry now. So I would like us to be extra careful least we get something we didn't bargain for.

I think people are being too fearful with mankind "playing God" and mucking around with plant DNA. Probably from watching too many movies - Omega Man, Resident Evil, Outbreak... etc where we'll unleash some type of uncontrollable strain that will ruin the wolrd.

Makes good movie fodder, but nothing based upon reality.
