Really painful upper back all the time! Understand that I've OA and RA. I took the pain medicines, Davrocet-N-100 and Methadone (10mg). It didn't help ease the pain but it did help with my arthritis but not my upper back at all. I did asked my doctor to prescribe me a muscle relaxant or something to help reduce the pain but he said "No" and told me that I've to learn to live w/ the pain for the rest of my life. Sound like insult me, isn't it? How do I make doctor finally willing to prescribe me the "little stronger" pain medicine or whatever it's? Will appreciate your advice/help me greatly. Thanks!

With OA and RA you should be under a Rheumatologist and not just a Doctor. You need specialized treatment anti-inflammatory medications, some form of disease modifying drugs, lots of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. That will help with the pain and then you can cut back on the pain drugs.
