I was wondering if you could please help me with something. My baby gir has a little bit of a cold now, and she has been really sick in the past with stomach flu, strep, pink eye, and so forth all the things that kids "normally" get. This really bums me out, It is the worst things in the world having my baby sick but on top of that this is a spiritual thing for me as well. When I share my being upset about it with others they make the statements such as "it is normal for children to be sick, it is just part of growing up". I don't accept that, we are children of God and 2x daily I cover my daughter in the blood, I pray over her, pray in the spirit, place a hedge of protection around her, and complete spiritual shield of amour. As A RN I know that people get sick because of living in sin, unconfessed sin, consequesces, just wear and tear on our bodies other times to bring Glory to God. Can you please shed some light or scripture on this for me? thank you so much and God bless you !

I praise God because without his protection she would probably be sick a lot more and for greater periods. I know she is a born sinner but she is 1, not living in sin, could this be because of us her parents or just to give God glory. Again may God richly bless you

Read Job. People are not always sick or in trouble because of THEIR sin. This is the *central* theme of Job. His friends kept asking why he was so 'cursed' and DEMANDING that he repent. He contended --- and at the end of the book, God agrees --- that he was blameless, and that his sickness wasn't because of sin. Neither was his poverty.

Also, see this scripture:

John 9:1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Sometimes, we experience hardship for God's glory. That was the case of the man born blind. It isn't scriptural to think that all hardship is a direct result of OUR sin --- though of course it is a result of living in a world that is fallen because of sin.

In some denominations they teach that being sick is because you have sin in your life or your faith is not strong enough. I believe the only scriptural evidence for this is scripture taken out of context. If this were true, somebody forgot to tell Lazarus for he was so sick he died. Could he have sinned or not had enough faith? I think Jesus called him friend. This is a perfect example where sickness was used to show God's glory.

Matthew 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

This scripture shows that just because we are Christians, it doesn't make us immune from the things in this would. The place where there is no sickness or death it yet to come but not this one.

We are not "born in sin." We are born into a sinful society, where the prince of the power of the air broadcasts his nature in the air. That is, his rebellious nature is in the air. We constantly breathe it in, until we come to the reality of Christ. Babies go through colds and such, as a matter of course. It is indeed a part of their growth process and you need to stop becoming unglued each time your child is uncomfortable. You don't exhibit any understanding or faith when you behave in this manner. Your behavior is obsessive and you need to calm down. Whether you accept it or not, children get sick. There are worse things in the world; so stop whining and take care of your child.

Sin isn't just what we do in rebellion toward God. Sin is what we are. How we were born into this world. Little children sometime get sick enough they die. It's not because they are evil but the world and the human race we belong to is evil.. Jesus came to save us from all sin ours and the worlds. Till the time when we receive our resurrection bodies we must walk in these bodies of sin and death... Trust Jesus and he will lift you up.. Heaven forbid if something happened to your child she is under the blood of Christ suffer the little children to come to me for such is the kingdom of God... IHS Jim

Ancestral sins are passed down. Your sweet baby girl has no sin, but ancestral sins come down through the father.

My 11 year old daughter became a Type I diabetic. Diabetes is an autoimmune disease believed to be rooted in a father's rejection. She is now 41 and two years ago received a pancreas and kidney transplant.

God bless you and I hope the best for your daughter.

Sometimes we get sick because of germs and not because of spiritual evil.

They are what gives us a robust immune system as adults. It is a natural cycle that we should not deprive our kids of.

Have faith in the immune system that God has given to your child and to all of us. Sometimes the immune system will fail but that is the way it goes.

Have faith in doctors, medicine, and good parenting.

Put trust in the wisdom that God has given to parents through life's experiences.

Most of all, don't worry so much. You'll make yourself sick.

Go take her to a doctor. Even if you get sick because of sin, doesn't mean you suddenly are healed when yo do good. Trust in God that the doctor's medicine will work. And do some good deeds, like volunteer at the YWCA. Prayer is nice, but God needs you to make other's prayers come true.

Ok first of all Katie is ignorent and most of the others on here as well. I am sorry to burst your bubble but children NEED to get sick you should know this as a nurse they get these little sicknesses to build up their immune systems try thanking God for building her immune system so later in life she will be able to fight off other stronger viruses (God forbid) Lastly you need to speak to your pastor I'm afraid you are a little confused on the word of God. If you are praying all this prayer for her and truely believe then she is getting sick because it's Gods will so don't fight him on this one he knows what he is doing. So when these hard times fall on you pray for yourself for comfort and peace and strength. Believe me when I say I understand I would literally become ill when my first was sick it would bring me down so hard so you need to pray for yourself too not just the little one.

Gee....all this time I thought getting sick was caused by viruses and bacteria........let's see, you do all this spritiual stuff to her and she still getting sick, right? Now, are you going to put some faith into some medicine, or just let her die as "the will of God"? And the wear and tear on our bodies doesn't come from sin..it comes from living the life your God put you in. (for Pete's sake...God gave us the brains to figure out how to make medicine - use it!)
