Your tip for the taxi is determined by the amount of the fare times 10/15%. We usually leave at least $3.00 per day for the maid unless there is something done that was over and above.

A good rule of thumb for maids is $3 - 5 per day - unkess you are a filthy pig then more or if you have them do extra for you.
Taxis drivers at a minimum 10%. Depending how much they help, etc, etc.
Use some common sense

Always tip taxi drivers. Maids can be tipped if you feel the room is clean and up to your standards

Always tip those people because they do not make much. I have many friends who are in the service industry. ( massage therapist, waiters, drivers, ect.) and they live off those tips. Everyone always wonders what to tip and if they tipped enough. Just remember 15% is fine but 20% to 25% is much better. As far as housekeeping goes I always try to leave at least a few dollars for them because they dont get paid as much as a they should and everything is always little bit better and more care for your stuff is shown when you tip there.

Yes because they do not get paid much, and you will make some what of a new friend. I think the amount should always depend on your wallet, at the least a five dollar tip al the way up to maybe 50.00 bucks all depending on your budget.

Yes for taxi drivers if they don't smell too bad. No for maids since I don't see them. I consider tipping for direct services rendered pleasantly. Maids don't fall under that category.
