I ask this because most of the Christians here talk about their close personal relationship with God, but I want to know if you hear his voice talking to you. I don't mean feelings of joy in your heart, or signs you've interpreted as a reply, but actually prayed and gotten him to talk back to you, and then had a conversation.

If I may be so bold as to ask, can you give me details or said conversations, or would that be rude of me?

I chat away to Him frequently, but mostly when I'm relaxed - about anything and everything. I tell Him my doubts and worries (though, of course, He knows them already) and ask His advice about secular matters as well as about my Christian activities. I have only "heard" His replies in my head, but my late wife actually heard Him audibly once, at a time when she was having problems with the faith in which she had been brought up. She had gone into our Church just to get the vacuum cleaner!! - but she heard, "Come closer", several times, until she found herself right up at the altar, looking at the Cross. That was the beginning of a mission.

I understand what you mean.I speak daily to God in prayer.
He does not answer me in an audable voice. If someone says to you;The Lord said to me,Told me then he is confused or lying. The only exception would be speaking through the Bible.
We have some nice songs like;He walks with me and He talks with me--or--He tells me I am His own. Well my friend not like you or I would walk and talk.

When I was much younger I used to talk to the ceiling in my bedroom as if God was listening. I'd usually come up with an answer to my own problems through listening to myself and reasoning.

i used to know a woman who was a hardline pentecostal who would seriously recount her in-depth conversations with THE LORD.
she would start like this; 'back on august 21st, in 19 and 81, THE LORD came to me while i was standing in the back yard...'

The only time people actually talk to god is when they are under major LSD or some heavy drugs.
note, i have never taken any drugs except a few puffs of weed from time to time.

Children talk to imaginary friends all the time. It's really creepy when an adult does it.
