Out of the following two 720p tvs, what is better?

-8000:1 (Dynamic) Contrast -550cd/m2 brightness

OR

-5000:1 Contrast -450cd/m2 brightness

There is no such a thing as an LCD with true contrast of 5,000:1. In other words BOTH numbers are dynamic.

In that case, the first one (8,000:1) is better. It is brighter as well.

First off, start looking at the 1080p's. The 720p's are nice but you got a built in blue ray player and hopefully will eventually use it. Second, neither of those 2 sets are all that impresseive! Take a look at the Sony brt4 and the samsung 71 series. Now those are LCD's I would love to do some HD gaming on!
