If I am understanding your question correctly.... You had fleas, treated the dog and sprayed the carpet and if the heat isn't on they won't come back?? Unfortunatly they don't need the heat on in the house to live. I think that the only way to ensure that the fleas are completely gone is to remove the dog and then use a "flea bomb" on the whole house. Fleas not only live on carpeting, but in bedding and furniture. While the dog is out of the house, I would have him treated again and then continue monthly with the Frontline. They are nasty little critters....good luck!

Yes, put the heating on! I can't believe the amount of people on here who are afraid to put their heating on...
Frontline is good, your dog will be covered so long as you got it on his skin. You need to use it every 8 weeks though. I'm not sure about RIP spray, whether it works on not. Even if it does, you're highly likely to have to spray again because most sprays don't kill flea eggs, these hatch out later.
Putting heating on will encourage the eggs to hatch - so do it, and if you see more fleas just spray again to get the last of the buggers! Don't sit there freezing throughout the winter!

You need to check if the spray you used on the carpet included an IGR (Isect Growth Regulator).
Also, the eggs can happily lay dormant for up to two years, until conditions are favourable for hatching! yuk!
If your vacuun cleaner has a bag, make sure you change it regularly, or put flea powder IN it, as dust bags are ideal breeding ground for fleas.
Keep on top of the house, and use an IGR every 5 months or so (even though they officially last 7-12 months). Keep the dog, and other pets, wormed, as fleas and worms are a cycle, and keep an eye open for possible sources of reinfestation (birds nests, mice, next doors cat!)
As you will undoubtedly be aware, they are much easier to prevent than they are to treat - but, then, they have been around for MILLIONS of years!

fleas are a nightmare, as you say you havent seen any in awhile i would say they are gone but my advice would be to redo the house again, making sure you do everywhere, ie the airing cupboard, mattressess need hoovered and all your carpets just to make sure they are all gone, make sure you redo your pets when need be, i would suggest visiting your local vet and buying something from them for your animals as they are stronger than the pet shops, as for your heating it should be ok to turn it on, no need for you to freeze lol the house is warm enough anyway for them to hatch, they jjust need to find warm places such as airing cupboard, hope this helps x

They should be gone. Just remember to use frontline every month. The heat should not matter so long as you have been using the vacuum.

Using Frontline on your dog will kill any more fleas that hatch.
The first thing they do is look for a meal on your dog.One feast & their dead without having time to breed themselves.
Frontline breaks the cycle.

Heat doesn't really have much to do with it.
Keep using frontline.
If you haven't bug bomb your house, room by room. Keep the a/c/heat off while you are doing it.
Then they will most likely be gone.
