I wonder if probiotics are really worth something or if it's a new marketing thing. (Maybe sales of dairy were getting low.) The commercials state studies support it, but do not say how biased the studies are. I eat plenty of whole grains and veggies and fruits and beans and have no problem with being regular. Even the commercials for the Dannon stuff all but said that, when reading between the lines. The people in the commercials complained that they felt irregular, bloated, sick, etc., but also said that they weren't taking care of themselves and eating poorly. Imagine that. (In the early days of my pregnancy when I was nauseous and tired and didn't feel like doing anything, especially when I caught a cold, I spent time just watching TV [there were times when reading a magazine was too much work], so I began to over analyze the commercials. Evne now when I nurse her, I have the TV on.
I found this article to be interesting, especially when they more or less confirmed my suspicions.

Probiotics are available in foods and dietary supplements (for example, capsules, tablets, and powders) and in some other forms as well. Examples of foods containing probiotics are yogurt, fermented and unfermented milk, miso, tempeh, and some juices and soy beverages.
