I'd say no. If anything, it would be religion. Very charismatic 'leaders' and cult-like followings are more common 'reasons' for mass murders and suicides.

Prior to 1960 everyone was Christian? Is that your insinuation? Nonsense and drivel. Children are under greater societal strain due to the fact that we have mothers and fathers working, and both usually have little time to devote to their kids well-being. It has nothing to do with the absence of faith and everything to do with how the children are raised.

I don't know that religion, per se, has anything to do with it. I believe they are most often linked to different levels of narcissism.
Mass murders, usually carried out, in the name of nationalism, religious or racial superiority and/or cleansing, the people who do them lack the moral depth or intellectual fortitude to appreciate the hyporisy of their actions.
Suicide, usually is the result of someone who has submited to the propoganda of the narcissists: that they, the person, who ultimately kills themselves, do not, cannot, and will never belong/be accepted/be deemed worthy to be in the company of these lunatics, who often end up in leadersip positions.
On its face, one would think, 'Who would want to be in their company?' But nut-cases/narcissists most often rise to power exploiting the self-doubt and/or inferiority complexes of the masses. 'Need someone to blame for your circumstance? You'll find a bevy of narcisists at the ready, naming any number of groups that they'll stoke your frustration towards, & encourage you to vent your hostility to.
They build followings/empires of the weak-willed & uninformed, who often find out too late, just how deranged these monsters are. -Many of these people are dangerous sociopaths & psycopaths, and they're running communities, companies & countries all over this planet.
The suicide victim has often given up, because narcissists notoriously try to destroy physically, emotionaly, intellectually, spiritualy, financially,... anyone who does not submit to them, either by service or praise, and people of conscience often have real challenges/fights on their hands, when they encounter them.

no, but take a look at all the wars and suicides caused by the Abrahamic religions. 7 day war and the fighting with the Palestinians, Crusades, the American war in Iraq (one of the possible reasons anyway), and all of those Jihadist suicide bombers.

No.
Mass murder is a feature of the bible and has been practised by the major Abrahamic religions.
Suicide in the name of religion is a feature of Islam.

Ask Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, the list is quite long, the last time I posted a question about it, it was far past 200,000,000 souls lost to their wonderful ideals. Oh I know some quacks will say Hitler and Stalin where Christians, that's their sorry attempt to cover up the truth.
