Rich = reich in German
(reich is reich in German of the same reason as rich is rich in English, no babbel fish there.)

The German substantive (noun) das Reich = (the) empire.

"Deutsches Reich" (Nazi Germany, the Third Reich) refers to Germany during the period 1933-1945 and it was frequently used by Hitler (der Führer). Nowadays the Germans do not use the word "Reich" for Germany, it´s so closely linked to the above mentioned lunatic!
