I don't mind it.
Although as a Black LDS surgeon, ever since this season has started, my coworkers have called me "Big Love". It used to bother me, but it's grown on me and I know they don't mean it in malice.
I agree Gumby, but remember, there are a lot of things on that show that actual doctors wouldn't do either. I sure wouldn't ever break into one of patients homes in order to diagnose him or her, nor would I ever get a patient drunk in order to test for cirrhosis. You gotta admit though, it's great entertainment.

You know, at first I was glad there was an LDS guy on there. I thought it might clear up some misconceptions. But then they had him get drunk. I really can't see an active LDS person doing that. Even for medical reasons. The thing is, his reasoning was right on LDS doctrine and was good reasoning. But I still don't think a faithful LDS member would do that.
The rest of it is just House being House. Does anyone really buy into what a TV character says and does?

I don't know if it matters either way. An LDS person can choose for his or herself to get offended or not. Non LDS people who don't agree with LDS have other ways to find the things they want to hear, without a tv show's help.

It shows that all believers in our faith are not infallible. When the character who is a Mormon decked House for the disparaging remarks made about Joseph Smith, the look in the character's eyes showed that feeling of remorse. It showed that Latter Day Saints have to deal with our own sinful nature. He is also a single dad too. He doesn't go into to much detail about what happened to his wife or girlfriend. Yes, sometimes members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints make the mistake of having children out of wedlock. That is why there is still the need for repentance in this world. I thank God for sending his Son so we can have that ability to repent and not go through the ancient ceremonies of sacrificing an animal or tying our written sins onto the horn of a goat.

Not seen that episode, but a few points:
1) it is fiction
2) a lot of people do not agree with the LDS philosphy
3) it is fiction
4) the fictional character House is rude to everyone
5) it is fiction
6) is the faith of LDS people so weak it can be seriously affected by a single episode of a TV drama
7) it is fiction

I woudl think, if anything it helps educate people on LDS beliefs
House is seen to be a "rude" person anyways, so it isnt liek he is affronting that specific set of beliefs, just how he choose to give THAT guy a hard time.

I don't think it affects LDS in any way...House is sort of like South Park -- equal opportunity offenders. There really isn't anyone he hasn't ripped on, so he's not singling anyone out. Being picked on by House is no more shocking than being picked on by South Park...if they haven't picked on you yet, it's only a matter of time.

Dr. House is a ridiculous stereotype as far as religion/atheism is concerned. He is the 'angry grumpy atheist' which seems to be the only kind of atheist that Hollywood portrays.
The Black Mormon dude at least has some character and he isn't a cardboard cutout like House is in the religious realm.

It's a TV show. If we can't laugh at ourselves what can we laugh at? Even bad publicity is good publicity.
