Jonjonv2.0 -What I meant was why do some people say that the Catholic Church is a false church which is really a Pagan church. My fault. I probably should have worded the question better.

I have been a Catholic and am now a pagan.

There are certain elements of Catholic practice that is also commonly found in pagan practice, moreso than most Protestant practice. However, this does not make Catholicism pagan.

Just because they use some of the same elements, doesn't make them the same thing.

Catholics use those things to worship the Christian God and to honor Christ, pagans use them in other ways.

Otherwise, it is like saying that because a rabbit and an elephant both walk on four legs and eat grass, they are the same thing.

What makes a pagan pagan, is what they believe and what they honor and worship, not that they use candles and altars and statues.

For 1750 years genuine Christians have been calling those who lasped in their faith and worshipped the Roman Emperor Lapsi. The Lapsi returned to the churches in droves when the persecution had ceased. The local churches that accepted them later became the seedling for Constantine's Catholic "Church".

His mother was a Pagan/Christian seer. Constantine's Catholic Church is a Pagan/Christian mix.

It has been denounced for 1750 years in the writings, and sermons of the Good Men or Cathari (as called by the Catholics).

In the Middle Ages the Catholic Church strayed so far from the Bible that the Good Men of those days called it the Church of Satan and the Pope the Anti-Christ.

The name church comes from their self-proclamation of Chrsitianity and the terminology and some trappings thereof. The Paganism, comes from their Dagon God & Mystery Religion of Babylon traditional practices.

This mix can even be seen in the Passion of the Christ a Catholic Movie. The sceens with the demons, snakes etc are all extrabiblical paganistic symbolism.

The Catholic Churches' propaganda machine has been working overtime since the Reformation, so it is not suprising that you are confused.

Many churches were built over Pagan temples and worship sites and holidays were conviently moved to coincide with Pagan holidays and Sabbats. go back in history in any country and you will find the oldes Dieties are BOTH male and female. Freedome of religion and to worship as you choose is a wonderful; thing. the Catholic church does many charitable works on a individual basis, but I wonder how many homewless and poor could be saved if the pope shared even a small portion of the vatican's gold????????? If Cathic faith is your thing, I do not condem it, but the church needs to face up to what they did during the Inquistion and Burning Times and Native Americans. My grandfather was one of the Native American kids forced off the reservation, cut his hair took him from his family, and tried to wipe out his heritage and culture and remake him into what the white church felt he should be( and no,I am not anti-white, my grannie was from Ireland, no more than I am anti-christain, but the truth is the truth and at the least the church, especiall the cahtolic church owes the Pagans of the past anhuge apology

It would be very hard to call the Catholic church Pagan. As long as Christ is the head of the church and the Bible is being taught then it is a Christian church. There is a lot of unbiblical doctrine and practices and that is what people attack. Personally I like the Catholics a lot.

People do not realize the pagan traditions that have been absorbed by the Catholic church and then adopted by most of the Protestant churches. I'll list a few...

Christmas
Easter
Sunday worship
Belief in the immortal soul
Belief in eternal torment of the wicked...

edit: Judaism has none of the beliefs I have listed and yet Judaism is the basis for Christianity. I leaves one wondering where did all this come from if not from Judaism. The answer is Paganism.

They are mistaken. I think many of them have been fed lies and they just accept them instead of researching and finding out the truth.

I was told once by a Baptist that if I put a present under the Christmas tree, I am worshiping the tree. I said "WHAT?" Don't you think I would know if I was worshiping a tree or not? But from someone on the outside looking in...if they were to see you kneeling down and placing presents under the tree...they might just think that.

The same has happened with Catholicism. Those on the outside who do not understand, have seen things and assigned them "their" understanding...and they are dead wrong! The Catholic Church is far from pagan...in fact the early Christians (who were Catholic) worked to eradicate paganism.

check out the symbolism between catholic/christian and pagan and you'll understand.

At one time the pentacle was used in christianity as a symbol for protection. It is still used by various Pagans today for the same reason (among other reasons).

Well, yeah, Christianity derives in part from the pagan mystery cults it absorbed, so Catholicism is indeed reformed paganism. Of course, "Protestant" Christianity is only a reformation of that.

Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

False gospels always lead to eternal hell.

Bible teachers that said the Vatican and the catholic cult are an antichrist: John Bunyan, John Huss, John Wycliffe, John Calvin, William Tyndale, John Knox, Thomas Bacon, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Samuel Cooper, John Cotton, and Jonathan Edwards
