Okay, I just bought a Blue Ox Advanta tow bar and while I've yet to print out and study the instructions, the set up looks pretty self-explanatory. I've also read the manual on my Jeep Wrangler on how to set up the tranny for towing, etc., so no problem there. Electrical is set up, too. My question is this: Any magic to setting the tow bar with vehicle "free wheeling" behind it? In other words, (like I did on a different Korean War Jeep), just pull it with the steering on the jeep free, right? Also (subject to my review of the Blue Ox plans when I print them), any particular set up needed when I hook the receiver in, hook the pins and safety chains up, etc.? Please only those that have experience towing like / kind. Thanks

Place the transmission in neutral, place transfer case in neutral, place transmission back into park, leave parking brake disengaged and leave the ignition unlocked, don't have to have it in the run position just don't turn it to lock.

Sounds like you have it figured out, just for the first time doing that I would have someone stand outside the vehicle and watch and make sure that the wheels are rolling on the jeep. If the steering is locked the jeep will not track properly and will tend to break the lock mechanism in the steering column because the mechanism can't withstand the added stress of the vehicle trying to turn the front wheels as your going down the road. So the biggest thing is making sure the steering wheel don't lock and that the transmission/transfer case are in the proper positions before moving.
