I wouldn't let him paint our hallway.
He's rubbish.

Actually, I'd say he's quite inspirational. I agree with dreamweave123, his work is more than just paint thrown on to a canvas (although I particularly like 'Galaxy', one of his many paint-splash paintings). He has such a hands-on approach to art and I think that that is something that he really developed in the whole of the art world.. I do find it a bit annoying when people assume his work can be copied so easily, you have to look into the painting before you can understand and create similar work to him.

I think that his paintings should not be judged by reproductions, which happens all too frequently for all painting.
When experiencing his paintings, I was surprised at how 'deep' they are, spatially. If you spend time with them, the layers of splatters have the effect of dropping back, much like stars in a night sky.
It is also very instructive to look at his history, particularly at his figurative work.
Have a look here:

He's the reigning "highest painting ever sold".
"No. 5, 1948" for USD 140 million
A 140 million dollars is too much for "just a splash". (price is not a basis of beauty though)
I personally think he's a genius, a pioneer. People may disagree but I won't argue, I don't think they would "UNDERSTAND".

Interesting and intuitive. A true abstract impressionist. A master of the creative accident! If you have seen originals of his work you would detect items embedded in the paint, hence very textural.

Well, in England his name is used in rhyming slang.
Jackson Pollocks = boIIocks
boIIocks = testicles or total rubbish, depending on context.
Therefore, in this context Jackson Pollocks = Total rubbish.

You should see the back wall of our garage where we test tins of spray paint, every bit as good as Jackson Pollock and you can have it for half the price.

I just studied him at college and found out his earlier work is better but his splash painting overshadow them. His wife is better than him her name is Lee Krasner. Also you should look at john squire (guitarist) hes done some good drip style paintings
