My letter gives me the following information:

Right:

Power -0.75
BC 8.70
Cyl -0.75
Axis +80.00

Left:

Power -1.00
BC 8.70
Cyl -0.75
Axis +70.00

And also how do we find the "20/20" measurement of our sight?

You are a little near-sighted with a little bit of astigmatism. The BC is the curvature of your eye (cornea). The 20/20 comes from a really weird calculation that sounds really stupid. Basically, if you can see 20/20 and I can see 20/40, you can see something clearly at 40 feet and I have to be 20 feet from it to see it as clearly. My vision is less than 20/400 (without glasses). That means that you can stand 400 feet away from something and I can stand 20 feet away and we both see it the same. (Very blurry) You are probably about 20/25 or 20/30 without your lenses.

Power is for nearsighted/farsighted correction

Cyl is for astigmatism correction

Axis is just that-tells the optician what axis to set the cyl at

BC is the curvature for contact lenses

Your sight with the correction you listed should be 20/20-ask your doc what your visual acuity is without correction

Also visual acuity like 20/40 means that something a person with 20/20 sight can see at 40 feet, you can see at 20 feet.

Hope this helps

The power, cyl and axis specify the power of the contact lens, the BC is the curvature of the back surface. A contact lens prescription should also specify a brand of lens, type of material and diameter of lens.

You have to ask your eye doctor for your "20/20" measurement, it can't be calculated from lens power.
