I am currently working for a temp agency and have been asked if I am interested for the permanant position where I am currently temping. I turned in my application last week and still haven't heard anything. Typically how long is the hiring process?

A week should be plenty of time. Go tap on the HR person's door and ask if the decision was made yet. If the answer is no, tell them you'll be back same time next week, then follow through. Good luck!

Before you can become Perm, you'll have to work enough hours with the Temp agency before the employer can pick you up. If they want you sooner than that, they will have to pay out the Temp agency, which doesn't happen quite often but it does depending on how much they like you and how desperate they are. The turn around time shouldn't be longer than 2 weeks.

My first Temp job I worked for 90 days before I became Perm, and the process didn't take long, it average less than 2 weeks.

Second Temp job I only worked for 2 1/2 weeks before I became Perm and I was Perm within the week.

It all depends on the employer and what kind of job you are getting the permanet position for. I work for the State and after my interview etc. It took them 2 wks to actually have me start. Typically everywhere else it's a week.
