Canon bro. Always Canon. Canon is known for its user friendly functions as well as high quality performance regardless of what kind of camera you get. Though they may seem a bit more pricey, you'll be saving money buy spending a little more for a GOOD camera. Nikon isn't that bad either.

The Canon XTI SLR also comes with a self cleansing lense. So instead of actually cleaning the lense yourself, it cleans it after every picture taken. Canon also has a decent warranty, which is something you look into in case your camera gets damaged. Depending on your budget, I would recomment the CANON XTI SLR.

I think either Canon or Fuji, while I think some of the Nikon coolpix cameras are good starter cameras...I've never gone wrong with a canon or a fuji, they're excellent. Canons have a wide variety of different cameras, all of which are easy to use, take good quality pictures and last a long time. My mom's had hers for about 10 years now and it's perfect still. Fujis are just well made all around.

Well if you're just looking at Canon and Nikon cameras you are doing yourself a disservice; unless you are looking for digital SLRS. Very fine cameras are made by Fuji, Sony and Panasonic. Look at different brands for the features you want and compare reviews and prices which you can obtain at Website dpreview.com
You start spending $250 and up, there is no best brand.

have you considered kodak easyshare lines? Not because I have one, they come in 6 or more MP (this translate to higher resolution and less grainy picture when u make large prints. They are slimer and more compact with improved /larger memory (with sd cards), For the most part, all digital cameras come with 3x zoom but u could get external/attached ones.

One of the features is the bluetooth that the new ones have. I won't waste time telling u of the benefit of this feature.

The vidoe is also ok, not grainy. The software enables u to send and share pics in a way that u don't need to attach the pictures, they show in the body of the email. That is huge because people a weary of opening attachments.

The cameras are also inexpensive, under $200.

There are other features but one thing I'll leave u with is that there is no best digital camera. What u consider best depends very much on what u wnat in a camera i.e. what u plan to be using it for, predominantly.

Don't also forget that with technology, what is best now won't be best tomorrow.

As for Digital SLRs I'm a pentax honk. While the cameras themselves are harder to find than the Cannons and Nikons, they are worth looking for. They are built around the idea that it is a "Tool" not a "Toy". I've found my *ist DS to be incredibly resilient to banging and jarring. It takes awesome pictures and is a great weight and size. Pentax also offered the first 10mp under $1k, plus the new DSLRs retro-fit all the lenses since 1974 or something, which means that there are millions of lenses already available for these cameras.

Nikon is the best brand in professional digital cameras. other than this there are Sony, Cannon, Kodak, Panasonic. But best preferred for home use is Sony cybershot

I'm also looking for a new Digital Camera. I would recomend not to get a kodak camera, the program that comes with the camera takes up alot memory with your computer and might make it run very slow.

i just bought a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III its 21.1 mgp DSLR camera. I LOVE it...it is a professional camera but if you are looking for a little less canon makes some amazing cameras. They also have alot of accessories unlike some other cameras.

Here's some user surveys sorted by the type of digital camera. Click on the type to see the results.

That's an unbiased survey, so I won't add my personal preferences. The final decision needs to be yours.

I hope this helps.
