I drink a lot of hot black tea with soy milk. Lately I've been adding thistle honey (wow, this makes me sound like a pretentious foodie, yikes), and I've noticed that it makes my lips and nose swell and tingle, and my tongue goes slightly numb. It doesn't seem to have any effect on my breathing. I've never had any honey allergies before; could I be allergic to the thistle pollen in the honey?

More importantly, is this something I should be worried about? I like the taste of the honey, and the tingling is kind of pleasant, if weird; do I need to quit drinking it?

It is likely you have an allergic reaction- put a little of the honey on your wrist and leave it for a while and see what happens, later put a little on your lip (without the tea) and see if you get a reaction- if so- stop using it-
often a reaction will be small and mild the first few times but later you can wind up with an unexpected full out allergic reaction (hives, anaphalactic, amongst other things) do the wrist and lip challenge and see what happens - if you have a reaction of any kind- stop using that particular kind of honey.
