Right now the world is in a mess. If it wasn't for religion it would be worse. If there were no religion hatred would be so great that many people would kill just to kill and morals would fly out the window. Not to say some men/women have already thrown theirs out the window but once again, it would be worse. You have too have faith and believe that because of religion and people believing and trusting in God we are not all evil people. Religion is not the only thing that divide people, what about race, education, money, status, and etc. And no there is not a best religion, because if one is serving the only true God which is Jehovah God, then they are all good.

There have been countries without religion, where religion has been banned. Those have been nasty, ugly places without freedom, and without beauty.
There are a lot of religions out there, and I will not defend any of them except Christianity, since a false religion is as bad as no religion. Asking me to defend, say, Islam, is like asking Tiger Woods to defend hockey violence.
It is interesting that the largest massacres of the last century have been almost entirely at the hands of atheists. Of course, I consider atheism a religion too...
There are some atheists who believe in what I call "Imagine Syndrome" where they think that banning religion will make everything peaceful and happy. The opposite is always true, since religion is one of the most civilizing forces ever.
And when I think of the song Imagine, I always think of how a black guy would react if I sang a song about how nice and pleasant my town would be if everyone were the same colour.

Religion is not the problem. The problem is people dont respect each other`s view`s. believe`s and opinions. I respect others and what they believe in so i have not found that religion causes a devide between me and people of other religions in fact me showing interest in their culture and religion causes the exact oposite of a devide. So the world without religion wont solve any issues it would just cause humans to look for something else to fight about.

There could be no world without religion, since the majority of humanity is wired to need to believe in some external power. In prehistoric times, it was rocks and rivers and the sun, etc. Gradually over time it evolved to a group of very human-like gods, like Zeus, Mercury, Athena, etc. Eventually, the one-God belief won out on the majority of the planet. I believe the next phase of religious evolution will be more of a Universal Power god. But mankind will always have a need to believe.

What has religion given us apart from the longest running, most divisive war in history?
You might say it has given us our morals but you only have to watch the news for five minutes to understand that we haven't actually got any.
Apart from some magnificent Mosques, Cathedrals, Pagodas and Temples, we haven't benefited much from our religions.
I suppose if their were no religions we'd all have to find something else to fight about.

Religion is the root cause of much harm and evil. Of course, there would still be problems without religion, we have a tribal mentality and are quick to sub-divide into protective and mutually hostile groups. But I agree with Richard Dawkins - good people will do good things and bad people will do bad things, but to get good people to do bad things, takes religion!

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
