Over time Christianity seems to have steered into something to fear or be paranoid about. A lot of people are afraid of Hell. They forget that it's all about celebrating His love.
It's not their love of God that makes puts Christians in a bad mood, it's their fear of Satan, which in itself is a sinful trap. This is probably because one of the first thing a preacher will say is "REPENT OR GO TO HELL!!!"
There are only a few "joyous" Christians left...
Therefore, life isn't funny to them...
I say Christians should go back to the "old" ways and celebrate God not by any rules or religious structures but to celebrate the joy of the Holy Spirit in their soul... but no one listens! scoff.

It does seem that it may quite often be the case, as I find it rather applies to me, except I don't act petty and mean. Living a religious life is quite hard work, especially if you have a job and other responsibilities (which I don't).
If you take it seriously then it makes you serious. For example I really love music. I must have about 450 Cd's available. Yet I prefer silence, whilst I read, whilst I type, whatever.
I guess a lot of them are perhaps afraid they will fall into temptation, or are not succeeding in making their conversion targets, or some such.

I have a sense of humor i am human. Even though I am a Christian i joke just as much as i used to before I just try not to say things that are against what God would want me to say ( I mean i go a bit overboard on the threatening Muslims with pork) But its all humorous. I love to laugh and anyone that knows me will say that. I haven't stopped dancing i just switched partners.

What "religious people" are you mixing with? Most Hindus and Buddhists can look forward to doing it all over and over until they finally get it right. Christians have nothing to be sad or humorless about. It's all done for them. All they have to do is accept the fact the price has been paid, and live a life of love. What's grim about that? Mix with a few Christians who understand the Faith and you'll get a different perception.

For the same reason some atheists have no sense of humor - people are different.
I put up a sign at a friend's coffee shop once, asking patrons to print no more than five pages a day on the communal printer. I threatened to start a religion devoted to hating them if they failed to comply, complete with weekly services devoted to their manifold failings, professional, social, and hygenic. A week later, one of the managers told me that the reaction to the sign had split about 50/50 - half of the people just laughed. The other half were just confused - "you're going to start a religion about me?" It was then that I realized that some people would just never get it.

Christianity was never meant to be a religion with rituals but a relationship that brought about righteousness.
Also keep in mind Christians are people and people mess up and criticize and judge and make mistakes just like you. But that's the beauty of it all. God forgave us and is willing to spend eternity with you if you believe in Him.
It shouldn't be based on fear but love.

I do have a sense of humor, it has to actually be funny though.
I have no fear.
I don't count or add up the sins of others as it is only my own sins that I have to worry about.
The fundies in you neighborhood, would that be Christian Fundamentalists or Atheist Fundamentalists?

I've never understood it... I think God (or whatever you believe in) has a great sense of humor and can show things in my life that were pretty humorous... if we can't laugh at ourselves, then we are the only ones not laughing!

Most of them have their anal sphincters puckered up tighter than a snare drum, and have been brainwashed that if they laugh at a religious joke, they are going to burn.
Must be a fear of fire.
