Kessie - no, the reason i asked what animals i'd find is because I don't want to kill something so big I can't eat it, something I will do with EVERY creature I put a bullet in. Unless you're a vegan don't tell me not to kill animals, i'm just cutting out the middle man :)

find a less cruel hobby - stop killing for 'sport.'

EDIT: as long as there's a supermarket around, no need to kill even more because all that've been slaughtered already haven't been - and won't be - eaten.

And you don't need to tell me what I can or cannot say - I'll decide that.

As JD mentioned there are many types of animals here in the north east. Having hunted these lands for years I would suggest hunting for Turkey and Whitetail Deer. Both are abundant in upstate NY, and both provide excellent meat. Once you get all the tags squared away, find a good butcher ahead of time. There are many places that will clean and prepare your kill and have it ready for the freezer for you in no time. All you have to do is field dress.

If you really want a challenge, you may want to consider muzzle loader hunting. The season opens earlier than for conventional firearms and it is quite fun. There is also archery, of course, but I find the cold weather this time of year doesn't mix well with bow hunting. Maybe when I was younger...

Good Luck.

First off when you get the kind of responses you got from "Kessie" simply report them. There is no excuse for the harassment, plain and simple..It was kind of you to offer an explanation, but believe me it fell on deaf ears...

As far as hunting in the Northeast, it really depends on the area you intend to hunt. There will be upland game in abundance, Rabbits, Squirrels,Pheasants,Quail, Turkeys,Ducks,Geese and of course Whitetail Deer, some of the biggest in the U.S. If you were to cross over into Canada you can add Bear,Elk,Moose to the list.
