at a wedding? I am going to a wedding this weekend with my mom. I am hoping to meet some single men there. Is that common? What is the best way to approach someone at a wedding?

There will be groomsmen there that are typically single. A wedding is a great place to meet single guys cause they are in the romantic mode. They can't help but be that way in a setting such as a wedding. Wait to approach till the reception, just go up and say "hey lets dance!"

Yes, their will probably be more single guys at the reception than the wedding due to the alcohol. Most guys don't mind going to a wedding just as long as it's someone elses and the free booze!! The best approach would be wait until they have had a few... lol

It depends on how big the wedding is sometimes. My aunt and uncle got married and there was just family there. For bigger weddings you can usually meet some people. I personally try to avoid weddings that are too big and over the top. Some people like to go to weddings and meet people though. I just could never do that.

the best way at a wedding... make a joke, ask them to dance. As far as are there a lot of single guys.. depends on the wedding.. sometime there are tons if it is a younger couples wedding and sometime it is a couples event and not many at all when it is an older couple wedding... good luck!

We didn't have any single men at our wedding, but we are an older couple (mid thirties). It really depends on the couple and their friends. Nowadays, I think it is acceptable to say "I don't have anyone to dance with and you look like you could use a partner also. Care to dance?" Or, if you are bold enough, just go up and say "Are you friends with the bride or groom?" or "I haven't met you yet, I am Susie, what's your name?" The other way to do it is just to ask the bride and groom to introduce you or talk to anyone around him that you might know and hope he gets into the conversation.

It depends on your hosts. If hosts address invitations "and guest" then every single is going to feel pressured to scrounge up a date, even a date they don't much like. If hosts have the common sense to invite people by name, then it is quite likely that there will be a number of singles present. (Honestly, you'd think it would be a no brainer to NOT use vague terms like 'and guest' or 'and family' where free champange is involved. But go figure.)

To meet people at weddings, I generally just say "Hello, my name is Kill" and stick out my hand.

Guys only go to weddings when;

1) part of the wedding party

2) close friend of the groom

3) wife or girlfriend drags them...

Actually not as common as some people would lead you to believe. All depends on the couple, especially the groom. If he has lots of friends they may come just to gloat...lol

As far as approach. Just do it and be yourself....unless being yourself is the reason your single...:) (Kidding)

usually but sometimes doesn't happen at every wedding but your chances are good and start off by asking how they know the bride or groom or by a joke
