It's for neither.

It is to build muscle.

It is to supplement your diet to make sure you get enough protein a day.

On average if you are working out with weights 2 - 3 times a week you need 1 gram of protein for pound of body weight.

150 lbs = 150 grams of protein to rebuild the muscles you are tearing down during weight training.

Some people with hectic schedules have a tough time fulfulling this requirement with real food that they supplement a meal with the protein drinks.

Hope this helps.

do not study the whey protein, yet I walked 3 miles daily for 4 months, I lost inches yet did not loose weight because the fat grew to grow to be to muscle. I went from a length 14/15 to a length 12. strolling works all muscular tissues, in case you swing your palms up and down and sideways. strolling is a good workout no longer only for weight-loss yet to shrink cholestrol and heart disease.

whey protein is labeled as a fast acting protein supplement and is better used for aiding in the recover from exercise and/or increasing muscle mass. for fat loss blended proteins are optimal. they provide a matrix of proteins which causes a pronounced anti-catabolic effect when following a reduced calorie diet for fat loss. medical study has shown that blended proteins are substantially more effective for fat loss then whey protein fractions.
