for a couple of weeks. she starts getting red and swelling starts then she will bleed.i use to put a diaper with a pad on mine until it stopped. you will have a the males in the neighbourhood calling. so watch her close. have her fixed about a week after so you won't have to go through this again.

This is the average: heat lasts 21 days. Dog bleeds for first week, is fertile for second week, and may spot as she becomes less receptive to breeding for last week. Your dog may vary from average.
Whatever you do, don't think heat is over when she stops bleeding. This is the most dangerous time for her to accidentally get pregnant. You must keep her confined for entire 3 weeks. And get her spayed if you can't or don't want to deal with this.

this differs between dogs. but a heat itself last 21 days.
Some bleed heavily throughout.some will bleed for about 10 days and then be fertile and ready to except a male for about 10-11 days and then start bleeding again anohter 10 days.
If you are going to get her spayed talk to a vet adn get it scheduled. they come into heat about every 6 months.

They will bleed heavy for 11 days then stand for the male and just spot bleed for another 11 days. Then mostly over maybe some slight spotting.

Average heat cycle is about 21 days. Best way to avoid it is have her spayed....no more mess, greatly reduced risk of many health problems....
