This is how his letter(my son) to me and my husband reads.

To:Mom and Dad
I Love You mom and dad, you are the best mom and dad i could ever have. I like dads BBQ, and also moms cooking. You can be a little strick sometimes, but I love you mom and dad.

Any suggestions on what we can do different, is there anything wrong, is he trying to tell us something? Is this ok?

I think it's great that he wrote that letter!!

Quit looking too far into it, you have a GREAT kid! Just appreciate that he said those kind words and tell him thank you. And then go make him his favorite dinner!!!!

Ponder his words! Think about your stickness first, before talking to him. Are any of the "NO's" really called for? Are you being over protective? he is only 9 though. he'll more than likely become a very productive son if you keep the reins a little tight, but on some of the things, set back and see if you really need to say NO to as much as you do.

Then ask him what things he feels are too strick! If the things he thinks are too strick, and you know for a fact they aren't, explain to him why your being strick about them. It could involve his saftey, his wellbeing.

No, your doing just fine and the letter it self says so when your son writes "your a little strick sometimes" this is what kids need. Don't be so hard on yourself..... spoken from a mother of a 5yr old boy.

My son used to do the same thing. Not at quite such a young age. Usually after we fought and he felt bad about how he acted.

Usually they are truly heartfelt words. I think it was a wonderful letter and would bring tears to my eyes.

The one thing I would do is give him a big hug and tell him how very much you love him and talk to him about why he feels you are to strict. It seems like maybe he is reaching out to address that.

Sounds like you have a good kid. I think wrighting might be easier for boys to do. Girls seem to be much more open about their feelings.

Stop reading so much into it. It is fine. Sounds like he is fine. If it said, Dear mom and dad I hate your guts, and wish you were dead...well...then you would have a problem.

Why would you want to change anything when the kid obviously adores you both. Yes, he is trying to tell you something...that he loves and apprecitates you.

That sounds awesome. If you are worried about the strict comment - don't be. It shows you are setting limits, and that is a good thing. Your son loves you and wants to tell you. That is great!

He might just be trying to tell you how important you people are in his life and how much he care and love you but sometimes kids are really logical and funny about their emotions. try not to look so bothered abut this letter because then he would be worried about you feeling bad about his way of expressing how he loves you. be normal to him.

It sound like it could be many reasons. Perhaps he heard someone else talking about how bad their parents were and was glad that you were not like them. It is too bad more children do not write notes like that to their parents as well.

Kids are pretty literal when they say something, its what they mean. He wrote a note to say he loves you, and that is about it, there is no underlying motive here.

I think your reading way in to it too much.

Be happy! It sounds like you have one of the very rare kids that actually appreciate what you do for them. He sounds like a great kid!
