This is presumably a reference to the birth of Jesus. Father's Day was probably invented by the greetings card industry, probably in the USA. So the same idea may not have been around in 32 AD or thereabouts. The New Testament shows that rather than buying a Father's Day gift, the custom seems to have been to sit at the right hand of the Father. Then again, when trying to apply logic or modern day ideas to scripture, which is also sprinkled liberally with legend and myth, you won't get very far.
