A lady my aunt knows is selling a Yorkie for $400.00. The dog is a year and a half. He was born on Feb 06,2006...My question is should i buy the dog? Is that a good deal? And would the dog be able to adapt to a new environment?

Is the dog registered with the AKC? If it isn't registered, I wouldn't even pay more than $50 for it. Even if it is registered, $400 for a dog that is a year and a half old still seems like a lot.... why are they getting rid of it?

first of all old dogs can learn new tricks... dogs just want to be loved and accepted... whether you are willing to spend that kind of money or not is up to you. why is the woman selling the dog in the first place? have you spent time with the dog? that's a must first..... go to his environment and see how he reacts with people....I personally love my dog and I got her from a shelter for $75.00... I couldn't put a price on her now and she's 6 years old....can you love and care for this dog, does this dog show you any love and care.... those are the questions I think you should be asking yourself and finding the answers to.... good luck...

I cant answer all your questions as I dont know about yorkies but as for adapting to a new environment I have two rescue dogs I adopted one came to me when he was just 8 months old and the other when he was 6 years old, neither seemed to pine for their previous lives and neither were abused dogs, it was just circumstance which brought them to me. I think they just respond well to being housed, fed, loved and exercised they're such social animals.

I would suggest looking around to find the average cost of these dog and read up on as much information as you can. Dogs adapt pretty easily as long as the have the proper training and care once you bring them home. Make sure you do your homework to make sure this is the right dog for you.

If you want the dog, go ahead. When you first buy it, maybe ask the lady to stop by every once in a while until the dog is fully adapted. Pay a lot of attention to it. I too, have a yorkie and he is 6 years old and he tends to want to sleep a lot on warm jackets and blankets. Maybe get this dog a blanket of his own. I think he would be able to adapt well. Hope this helps!

Tough but I think u should not buy a Yorkie. U should buy Dalmatian if u want a playful dog, If u want a fierce dog u should get a rotwiller and if u want a dog that is playful and fierce get a Golden Retriever but u should know it is not cheap! U should know I spent all morning going to pet shops getting this info!

save a life. Listen don't get it at a year old. Some small dogs are just hard to train period as puppies no along getting an adult to deal with. Some one will buy the dog eventually. But i think you will have better results just getting a shelter dog.

Go to your local pound or dog rescue . So many dogs are literally " dying" for homes. We just adopted a 10-12 year old beagle who is a love. No one wanted her because she wet the bed when she was asleep. Poor thing. We love her.

I dunno. You need to get more info before you make your decision. I got a yorkie puppy **with papers** for $350. You definately need to ask why they are getting rid of it.

Most people that get rid of their yorkies do so because they are incrediably hard to potty train. I would bet that is the reason here.
