This is the second occurence of this. I drank heavily on Saturday (6-8 beers), drank 20 oz of water afterwards. Sunday had a slight hangover, Monday - extreme nausea and vertigo. Last time this happened it lasted for a week. The key factor is the alcohol - I also take effexor. I am really not sure why or where this is coming from. I have always been able to drink and not have any issues. Anyone know?

Yes, if you've had enough of the right stuff! Besides, you should never mix prescription pills with alcohol! I know about effexor and that stuff is horrible. I would not take that pill no matter what. Mixing alcohol in your system with that pill will make you sick and I strongly urge you to not do that.

No, the KEY is that you're on Effexor and you get sick when you drink alcohol. Well, you are not supposed to drink any alcohol while taking Effexor.
I guess you didn't read the information that comes with your prescription.
You can also go to the Effexor website. It says it there, too.

If you look up Effexor in Web Md then you find articles about people overdosing on alcohol while taking this medication. Most likely you should not drink with it.

I would cut back on the alcohol, since it may be part of the cause. But I would also go to the doctor to see if it's a sign of something more severe.

You said heavily, 6-8 beers. Did you mean 16-18? I mean, 6-8 is lunchtime!

There is a possibility of interaction with effexor-
"Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase dizziness while taking venlafaxine."

Maybe your liver is having a harder time getting rid of the toxins from drinking because you have drank so much over time. It could just be catching up to you.

Just as "guns don't kill people",
alcohol does not cause the symptoms you mentioned.

In both cases, the cause is the same: Stupidity.
