it's bad because of the impact on the environment.
Rather than drinking tap water (which is what most bottled water is), people are paying for a factory to bottle water, ship water, make plastic containers....etc
Much more environmentally conscious to just turn the tap on (Use a Brita water filter if you feel the need)
And contrary to another posters comments......There are no filtering requirements for bottled water. Some water comes from a spring, Some water is distilled, Some water comes right from the local water supply (tap) and Some is filtered.

I reuse plastic bottles each and every of the time. After some cases I placed them contained in the recyle bin. the in easy words time i do not reuse them is when I really have a chilly or sinus an infection. Then I placed them contained in the recycle bin when I drink the water in them. I merely gained an digital mail from a healthcare professional buddy of mine declaring no longer to placed them contained in the freezer because it is at the same time as the Petroleum product leaks from the plastic.

It has an expiration date because it will go funny sitting in plastic like that.
I wouldn't say that *most* bottled water is tap water (filtered). Dasani and Aquafina are (and personally I find them revolting). Any bottled water I buy (when absolutely necessary, like I forgot my nalgene reusable water bottle at home) is from natural springs. This is not necessarily the source of municipal drinking water. In most of the places I have lived in Ontario the municipal tap water comes from lakes and rivers.

It's not really bad. The study just shows that they get the bottled water from the same resevoir that public water comes from so it is just like drinking tap water. I think they are criticizing the company because they are misleading the consumers.

Water if in a Plastic bottle consumed regularly has ill effect on health at a later stage.
Thats why people now-a-days prefer maintaining glass jugs for daily consumption rather than drinking in plastic bottles..

Water isn't bad.
Bottled water is the in thing right now.
As far as I am concerned, water is water!
I don't get hooked by clever packaging and marketing.
Have saved a ton of money!!!

MOST bottled water lacks flouride which is important for cavity prevention. Also, recently the bottled water from france (evian brand) was reported to not even be natural spring water but from a faucet and bottled and sold as spring water.

It's not bad other than it's mostly filtered & processed the same way & fancy label companies put their names on it so they can charge us more for purified water.

Techincally it is tap water that has been filtered. So it is not just tap water. But you could just buy a filter for your faucet or one of those filter containers.
Some people don't mind paying for the convenience.
