My niece is a all A honor student in all advanced classes she too plays sports Volleyball and basketball as well is a "football manager". Keep up the good grades it will help you into a great college your grades you do FOR YOURSELF no one else.
As for the Ipod my niece has never asked for one, dont know why but I do know she wont ask for things she knows her dad (she lives w him) can not afford. If its a large amount of money she just wont ask him to shell it all out on one item when the household (she, her father, and grandfather who is disabled) can use it else where.
I dont think your being selfish but maybe just maybe you should ask for it MONTHS in advance so they can save up for it. For instance if your birthday is in May ask in Feb for one, and drop little hints so they dont forget. If you wanted it for Xmas you should have started telling them in July
Now lets talk about the "I hate that things havent gone my way in a while" that my love is selfish and uncalled for. Life will not go your way get over it

I fail to see what your academic or sporting achievements have to do with getting an iPod. If you "hate that things haven't gone my way in a while" I can only suggest that you learn to be patient.
PS - Yes, I think you are being selfish.

Ok, Ipods are expensive. And yeah, you probably haven't noticed that the cost of living period has increased dramatically. So while your complaining about not getting something that you want...your Mom is busy working her butt off just to keep food in your mouth and a roof over your head. Trust me, most parents would give their children the shirt off of their back...so my guess is, she just can't afford it, or she's waiting until Christmas to give it to you. Either case, quit focusing on what you don't have and be grateful for what you do!!

You should wait until your parents' budget allows for an iPod. We can't always afford to go out spending money randomly...
I'm sure your mom will get you the iPod. Christmas is coming.

the fact that u said "things haven't gone my way for a while" sounds selfish, other than that u sound like a pretty good kid. offer to pay for half the ipod with money earned from odd jobs

Ipods aren't cheap, perhaps it's money that is stopping your mom from being able to get you one. That's how life goes.
If you want it bad enough drop a sport and find a job, earn the money yourself to buy it.

Yes, you are being selfish. Ipods are not cheap, and maybe your mother can't afford it now. Go get a part time job and save up for one.

Then save up your money and buy one for yourself. Even though it sounds like it isn't too much to ask, I don't know your lifestyle or your family's financial situation.
The best way to get things you really want, is to do what it takes to buy or acquire them for yourself. You'll also tend to appreciate it more and take care of it better, if your hard earned money was used ot purchase it.
Good luck! âº
