Such as your wedding colors are black and red and your getting married in April, or making carmel apples as favors (take home) and your wedding isn't in the fall? I'm so sick of people telling me "thats not the thing to do/colors to choose in the spring"
you know what
It's my wedding, I don't give a crap, i'll do what I WANT DONE!

So tell me (i know some of you are out there) What are you doing out of season that people think isn't 'right'?
:)

Paula, why are you fishing for 2 points instead of answering my question

"Who out there is doing something "out of season"

have a great day !

bubbles,
it's not going to be trashy lol...

like for example, our cake is three tiers and its white and at the bottom of each tier is a black ribbon and then a string of pearls on top of that, and red roses on each tier, kind of out of place, not in any order.

Also red and black is classy :P my girls will be wearing black bridesmaids dresses, and the guys black tuxes and apple colored vests/ties

I don't care if things are "out of season" or "out of the norm" I learned from my Dad that that stuff is called Adultism and is silly. I think it's silly that blue is for boys and pink is for girls and red and green are Christmas colors.

I think a wedding should look nice, don't get me wrong, but colors are just colors they don't mean anything unless you yourself assign meaning to them! If you think black, white, and red look great as wedding colors then have them for your wedding!

My wedding is in June and my colors are clover and white. I don't know if these are seen as a summer weddings colors and I don't care. I like green and I like white with it for my wedding! I'm getting married in Maine so that's more my theme than the season is anyway.

Maybe you are not ready to get married. Marriage is not all sunshine and roses. It can be great, but it's also a lot of work. The first year is the hardest. If you aren't even looking forward to the wedding but you think marriage is going to be easier than planning an event like that, you're in for a shocking surprise. Perhaps you should not be getting married at all, because I think you have very unrealistic expectations. ETA: I'm sorry about your tragedy, but I still stand by my answer. If you aren't excited about marrying someone you shouldn't marry them. Getting married just because you want to be a wife is not the right reason. It's about the person you are marrying- not about the status you will have as a "mrs."

Well I havent gone anywhere to get quotes on things, but im getting married June of 09 and had some lady on here tell me red black and white are horrible weddign colors.... Which I don't care it's my wedding, and i'll make it classy wether she thinks I can or not.
I have been having troubles with favors and stuff, our wedding stuff is already going to be expensive, but it is your wedding, and red and black always looks amazing together.
Another little hint do red flowers for bridemaids, or do a little red sash thing around their waist.
Ooooh and if you want to try roses, they have fiftyflowers.com has amazing prices, the bouquets generally get 12 for bm and 12-24 for bride. They have awesome prices if your a DIY'er.
And the places will tell you its out of season, but if they really want your business they will do it anyways, just pull the fine, ill take my business to someone who will do it for me. Theyll jump and help ya real fast.

We decided on a BBQ Garden party reception and in England UK that is risky at any time of the year, for the whole week on the run up to the wedding we were holding our breath to see if rain was forecast, we were lucky and got a sunny/cloudy day but that was a big risk to take. Also my colour scheme was not Autumnal either, I think it is a shame to limit yourself to things that are seasonal, obviously flowers etc can be seasonal (out of season is always more expensive) your wedding should be all about the taste of the bride and groom.

OK my wedding is in December and everyone is expecting red or Forrest green to be the colors with velvet dresses and stuff like that but I'm having my colors as white with accents of lilac and pool. Oh and the dresses are Satin. oh ya my flowers are roses and stephanotis, not poitsetas.Totally off for a winter wedding but I don't care cuz it looks beautiful.

I'm trying to do everything non-traditional and not as "weddingly". I find that everything that is labeled "wedding' or "bridal" comes with a huge mark up and is what everybody and their neighbor is doing or wearing.

I'm thinking outside the box and that has taken a lot of research and multi-tasking.

Go for it! Red and black colors are traditional, who cares about the season.

Good luck and congrats

I didn't even THINK about the "season" for my wedding. I picked red cuz I like red. I gave a mixed variety of candy cuz I know everyone had different tastes. I just did whatever came to mind without worrying about what season it was or what others think I "should" do. If they wanted to suggest something, they were welcome to pay for that aspect of the wedding. My FIL wanted an open bar... so he paid for it.

Im getting married in the spring (may 31, 2008) and I am having fall colors. Burnt orange, ivory, and cognac (brown). We are having these brass lanterns with tea lights in them. My flowers are orange and browns and dark reds. I dont care what anyone says - i hear it all the time too. To dark for that season - well, it is what i want and it is going to be beautiful!

My cousin got married three days before Christmas. Her colors? Yellow and white. Everybody was expecting poinsettas and lots of red or green. It actually worked because she had no "Christmas" motif around and her wedding pictures don't look dated around a holiday. Very beautiful.
