I'm getting married next year, and we're thinking of getting married in the Carribean.... Anyone have some great recommendations for us? Also, how much should we plan to spend...

We're not interested in a big wedding with tonnes of people. Our family is spread out, so regardless of where we have it, people on either side of the family will have to travel....

My daughter's getting married this Christmas in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Almost all the resorts have wedding packages. The actual wedding will be around 1000.00. The price of flights & hotels will depend on how far you're travelling.

We chose Jamaica for several reasons. The first is it's English speaking. She looked at Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic too, but with Spanish being the official language, all the documents have to be translated back & forth. The second reason is we wanted a direct flight, and are choices were narrowed down as we're going from the west coast of Canada.

And I don't think you're crazy. Not everyone wants a big wedding to impress their friends. That's just Mathie's opinion. Nothing more, just an opinion.

My daughter only wanted us (her dad & I) and their best friends. She says there's no way she's paying for a party for her friends, when they couldn't give a s**t if they get married or not.

I think alot of the people that don't like destination weddings are maybe a little jealous? Almost everyone I've talked to has said what a fabulous idea it is

Destination Weddings are great and they are way cheaper than regular weddings close to home. We got married in Punta Cana Dominican Republic it was great. Some packages (ours did) give you free vacations if you have a certain amount of people who book. My husband and I both had free vacations and after booking a certain amount of people through the hotel you get a free wedding!! We barely spent a penny and had our honeymoon the week after while we were already down there. This was beautiful, stress free and simple!! Destination wedding are not more money if you do them right. Have a great time it's the best way you can get married!! We had 54 people book altogether and everyone had a great time and would do it all over again!!

The only advice I can give is to take it in. Getting married in the Carribean is wonderful and not too many people ever get to even travel there. No matter where you go in the Carribean it will be beautiful. Enjoy the experience.

Jamaica at the Starfish Trelawny Beach Resort (All-Inclusive) you fly into montigo and its about a 45 minute drive out. the resort weddings can range in price. but ive seen the weddings done here usually with a small entourage of about 10 people and its very pretty. with great food and accomidations.

I think you should have a wedding closer to home and save that money and put it down on your first house . Weddings are so outrageous these days and way too costly . We got married at a small chapel in georgia for 100.00 it was way out in the middle of nowhere . It was beautifull . We came home and saved the money and put it on a house . i feel so much better having a house than a exspensive wedding .

I think you're crazy. Honestly, a lot of people can't afford to go to a destination wedding. I think you're dropping a lot of money for something that isn't necessary. Personally I can't imagine paying for it and planning it. Have a simple wedding closer to home and go there for a honeymoon. One of my friends recently got married 6 hours away from home and even that was too far for most of her friends to travel and none of us could afford it. She had her princess dream wedding but without her friends and half her family. I personally just want to marry my fiance and don't need to go half way around the world to do it.

We're getting married in St Thomas, using www.islandweddingservices.com They have been great to deal with--very responsive, and their prices are much better than anything you can get from the hotels directly. Just like a traditional wedding, you can make it as simple or extravagant as you wish.
