On the news at lunchtime the government apologises because they underestimat foreign workers in Britain the figure they gave was 800.000.00 but now find its 1.1million. Doesn't that show that you cant't rely on the figures at all? I would bet that the actual number is even higher! Manipulation and lies!!

It's amazing isn't it? And you wonder why so many children are leaving primary schools without a basic understanding of maths...typical New Labour balls-up. I would agree that figure is probably short by a few 100,000 as well.

Labour couldn't organise the proverbial in brewery. They said we'd get 13,000 immigrants coming over in 2004 when the new countries joined the EU. What did we get? 600,000+ and rising.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

For a while, the influx of immigration was thought to be a good thing. Several indicators in Britain suggested then, that wasn't the case, and the British Government tried to accomadate that feeling I believe. In any case, there are so many ways to become an illegal alien, counting them get very difficult.

Something of the same thing has happened here also. It is a guess, but the fact is that the USA government suggests there are only 12 million when almost all the figures the accounting people use is 30 million.

Emigration from the UK in 2005 was 380,000 people; just how many were UK nationals I wonder.

If the annual figures for the next five years are similar, and immigration continues at similar rates, the result in say, 5 years time will be that a vast number of the UK's population will be foreign workers and their dependants.

As I don't want a midnight visit from the Thought Police, I'll refrain from commenting on whether or not this would be a desirable situation....

been my experience over the years that civil servants cannot count any way. its not manipulation its just they wanted to get something out into the open because they are hiding something else. they know jolly well that anything to do with immigrants will get lots of press so less time for the media to talk on the real problems in the world. which pushes other things that might get them kicked out of office real deep and hardly mentioned inside the papers. usually about some rich person are other getting caught doing something in foreign places

Elvis Paisley makes a good point about education; just imagine having an indigenous British child in a school with 50 languages.

The whole thing is really awful, they have no clue as to what is going on-- they are supported by a group of UK pseudo intellectual political wonders with a half understanding of racism who think to be "non racist" we must fill the UK with the World's migrants.

These figures are purely for legal immigrants. The total figure for Illegal Immigrants has been studiously ignored.

The forecast figures for the next 25 years are a complete joke. The reality will be at least twice the forecast.

And i bet that is not the real figure either,For the people who have voted labour over the least few years you have no room to whinge about it because labour will do nothing to stop this happening.I do not like any of the parties at the mo but i know who my vote will go to.....bnp they are the only real party with any backbone....you know what you get with them.

And no they are not all abunch of nazis, this is what the media would have you believe, the truth is all 3 of the main parties are running scared because they have done nothing to stop immigration and will continue to do nothing.

It just proves to what extent the Government have lost control of immigration. I suspect it will many more if you take into consideration the illegal immigrants who are resident here. Immigration has to be controlled effectively if the infrastructure of the UK is to suffice. I would prefer immigrants to be allowed to stay if they have agreed employment for, if not, they will be a drain upon taxpayers.

I'm actually surprised they told us there was a mistake in the first place! I don't believe a word any of them say. No matter who it is or what they do, in the government, they're all out to shaft us anyway.
