Our dad (as I would never call him my father as he is above) use's his daughters for gain and then take what he has given back. I thought that parents were to be the example..........where does trust go?

Not ALL parents do that. Just those filled with themselves.

First off, You build trust with those who deserve it. Just because they are your parents, doesn't make them perfect. Clearly your father doesn't deserve it so quit trusting in him. Make your own way...I know it will be harder...been there done that...but in the end, you'll be in a better place and you won't have all the negativity in your life from dealing with these feelings.

Secondly, you need to mature a little bit and realize that Parent's don't get a manual. They don't know how to do things the right way all the time...many people just learn how to scam life to get what they want. Yes, Parent's are the example, that doesn't mean that they will always be a good example. My Parent's were horrible, but they were a great example of how NOT to live. When you grow up a little bit, you'll realize that they are just finding their way, just like everyone else. Life has a way of humbling a person...we're all just stupid idiots being bounced around like ping pong balls. :) Don't let it get to you, just do things differently with your own children....Have a great day!!

They are suppose to be the example. Parents are suppose to give unconditional love, (sometimes tough love), while teaching their children by example how to be productive, law abiding citizen who know and practice the difference between right and wrong. This is not always an easy job. There are numerous outside influences that get in the way. While your father may be doing things that is considered wrong, maybe even morally so....Don't make the same mistake that he has made. Do what you know in your heart of hearts to be right and learn from the mistakes that he has made.

Parents are human being too. And they make mistake as they go in this life. I guess not everybody is made to be a parent. Some people is better off not to.

If you can accept this, not only about your father. Your life is lighter.

sometimes they feel like they deserve to get something in return. maybe they feel like if they get something in return, its like a thank you. it tells them that they did well. they may also know no other way to "gain" then from their children who are right in front of them. its not right but it happens alot. im sorry for u and ur sister. good luck

My parents adopted me transracially, but their racists still. They just wanted to choose the lesser evil of the races so that they could whitewash me.
