I feel like someone I know is trying to put this saying into practice with me, but I just think he's rude so Im rude back but then suddenly he goes all nice again. It's happened to me a few times with different guys and Im wondering what their caper is. Male opinions are really appreciated on this. Thanks.

Some immature or arrogant guys will try such behavior and it will work on some chicks so that's why they do it. Personally, anyone who is "mean" to me, isn't worth having in my life.

sadly, yes. The guys that did this probably got their heart broke at one time and they then played the nice role. The truth is that they probly now believe that if they are the opposite that they can hold on to the person instead of getting hurt again. Even some women play the same roles... The best thing to do is to let them know that you are not appreciative of this attitude and that if it keeps up you and him will not work. let him know that it make you feel disrespected and hurts your feelings. Standing your ground is a great thing and i commend you for doing that... good luck.

I personaly dont think so...

It may work for young girls to look like Billy Badass, but, thats ayoung girl.. if you want a good girl who is nice and will love you back, and actually have something last.

I have always treated my girlfriends like gold... little supprises here and there, anything to really put a smile on her face.

Everygirl will like a A-Hole at some point, but its normaly the nice guy after the A-hole they end up with

The fact is, that strategy tends to work. The fact that you are asking this question says a lot. Nice guys have lots of "just friends", but even guys in prison for murder have women writing them love letters and proposing marriage.

Guys think a lot of stupid ideas will get the girl. Just have to watch out for those types. There are still real men out there though, I've never done anything like that.

Well put it like this. In three relationships that Ive been in. 2 of them were serious. I was nice as hell in all three and got cheated on, and when I asked why I got no response. So... Time to try somethin new.

I think that could be a common belief with guys. but it wouldn't work with me. when I reach the point where I'm saying, "I'd rather be alone than be with you", that's it. and if I'm badly treated, that happens very quickly. a lot of it depends on your values, and self-esteem.
I really hate boorish men who believe that. and I've seen lots of them.

Whoops sorry, I know I'm not male, but...

I always thought it was the other way round? Girls thinking that they should treat guys 'mean...'

I do not think any relationship should be based on cruelty. You get out of it what you put into it.
