My mother is in her 80's and her partner of 10 years is in his late 70's, flirts with women behind her back, and makes arrangements to meet up with them. One of her friends revealed this to her as he made a pass at her also. He ignores her when they go to gatherings and he always looks for a second opinion when she suggests her opinion about anything. I have told her what I think but maybe this is from a younger perspective, she is very frustrated as he only behaves like a live in housekeeper, any suggestions? would be appreciated.

he makes arrangements to meet ladies? What do they do?? I suppose older people grew up differently - during her time when she was younger u were supposed to be passive and stay loyal to your partner no matter what...maybe thats where this is coming from. Or maybe she knows she's too old to make a big fuss about it cus they do share some special moments together...why dont you take the initiative and talk to him?

After 10years and at their ages, I don't think he's going to change. Your mother has to decide if she wants to continue living this way or not. Is she better off with him or without him? Only she can decide.

It sounds to me like your Mother is happy to have his companionship with no strings attached. Perhaps she does not want to have an exclusive relationship. If she is content, stay close to her and help her every chance you get.

Your grandmother is over 80 years old and an adult... if she doesn't like the situation, she can get out of it...

You can't fix the problems of other adults.

get someone to straighten his old butt out.

tell ur mom to dump him and find someone else cause it is pretty clear he wants to mess around with more then one person not worth her time or effort and trouble he could cause her.

tell her to move on and find someone else that wants only her and not a bunch of ladies
